She is such a good girl. Getting so big and learning so quickly. The next couple months is going to be amazing. We recently removed all the "sleep aids" or at least the items we thought were helping her sleep. Like the binky and her swaddling wrap. Turns out, they were hindering her (and us) more than helping. Our pediatrician is a smart lady.
The first couple nights were hard without the binky but she doesnt miss it at all anymore. Its been a month. Over Christmas we decided to start putting her to bed without wrapping her up. That was hard because we found out she is a wild sleeper. She sleeps in every position and uses every bit of real estate her crib provides. So we got her a Breathable Bumper. Its a mesh crib bumper that prevents her arms and legs from getting stuck, but also allows air to pass through properly. Give us some piece of mind at least.
So the wrap and the binky. Everytime she would spit it out, she would cry, we would get out of bed and give it back to her. EVERY TIME..... Duh. That was teaching her very bad habits as well as preventing all of us from a good nights sleep. Same with the wrap. Anytime she would come unwrapped, we would get up and rewrap her. Viscious cycle that would only get worse the older she gets.
So... here we are... a month of no binky.... 2 weeks of no wrap. Baby sleeps from 7 pm to 6 am.
Whooo hooo!
Now Ben and I are over tired because I think we are getting more sleep that we are used to. Constant readjustment, but its worth it.
Christmas was fun. Very low key. Next year will be more fun for Olivia I am sure. She did get to spend time with her cousin Araya, Aunt Angela and Uncle Josh. They had us over for a fantastic feast of Tamales and Taco' s, while Grandma Rose made Pozole. YUM!
Other than that, we were down with the sickness! Ben and I had the flu and it was yuck.
